Remembering Reds legend Ian St John

Liverpool fans are in mourning today after the passing of legendary striker Ian St John.

The Saint was one of the catalysts in transforming Bill Shankly's second division side into English champions in the sixties, clinching two league titles for the Reds.

He famously scored a diving header against Leeds at Wembley to secure Liverpool's first ever FA Cup win in 1965.

St John would score 118 goals in 424 games in over 10 years with Liverpool, earning the love and admiration of fans for his fearless attitude and commitment to the cause.

He'd later go on to become a popular TV personality alongside World Cup winning striker Jimmy Greaves, as well as appearing on local radio on Merseyside and hosting a popular phone-in show.

Tributes poured in for St John from fellow Liverpool legends such as Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard, as well as rivals and peers.
