Vox Sentences - You’ve helped us come so far

This April, Vox turns 7 years old!

We’ve grown from a team of people who could fit inside a single conference room to a triple digit full-time editorial staff, working from our homes all over the world during this pandemic.

The world has changed a lot in these past seven years, but through it all we held tight to our mission: to make the most important issues clear and comprehensible, and empower you to shape the world in which you live.

Vox was always built to be a bit different. We believe the worst trick played on the public is to make them believe the world is too complicated for them to understand. And that’s why we hire the nerdiest, obsessively curious journalists to take you with us on a journey from curiosity to understanding. Where other news organizations focus on what just happened, we focus on the context that’s needed to make sense of the news.

Today, I’m asking you to help us celebrate Vox’s seventh birthday and support Vox’s unique mission by making a financial contribution of $7.

In a tumultuous year, the Vox audience has supported our journalism in meaningful ways. We launched the Vox Contributions program almost exactly one year ago. Since then, we’ve accomplished so much with the help of our audience. Here are some highlights:

  • 21,692 people responded to our requests to contribute to our reporting
  • 10% of our 2020 editorial expenses were covered by Vox Contributions
  • More than 15 million people shared our work across platforms
  • 320 million people read our coverage of the coronavirus crisis
  • Our YouTube audience helped us translate our videos into more than 75 languages, enabling people to share potentially lifesaving information on the pandemic. We even heard from governments that used our videos to educate the public, and from teachers and parents who used our videos to teach their children.

Together we’ve accomplished so much, and we’re committed to keeping our journalism free for all who need it. Your support helps us do that.

Will you help us celebrate seven years of Vox, and keep our work free for all, by contributing $7?

Here’s to building the future of Vox together,

Allison Rockey, VP, Vox

P.S. If you’d like to opt out of future contributions appeals, you can do so here. This won't remove you from any Vox newsletters you're currently receiving.
