It’s Natural-Hair Week on the Strategist, which means – like we always do for our themed weeks – we’re sifting through products and reaching out to experts for deeply vetted and highly specific recommendations. And as senior editor Crystal Martin notes in our hub of natural-hair stories, we’re also taking time this week to answer the question “Where is natural hair right now?” Crystal writes: “With more Black people than ever going natural, there’s a push for visual representation of kinks and tight curls in order to help, at last, break away from the long-standing idealization of looser curls.” Beauty Needs Me’s Taleah Griffin agrees, telling Crystal: “It’s important that we see 4C tight curls, because society is still telling us that it is not acceptable.
