Rethinking and Rebuilding Brand Loyalty in 2021.

The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted customer’s shopping behaviors. The customer you once had may not be the same customer who returns to your store. They have different profiles, preferences and redemption behaviors. This means brands must quickly rethink and find ways to adapt their loyalty strategy positioning and personalization - while at the same time preparing for what is sure to be an upcoming surge in shopping behaviors.

Move Beyond Transactional Relationships

Throughout 2020, Kobie surveyed over 1,500 consumers who have used loyalty programs in an effort to pinpoint what consumers are expecting from their favorite brands. The questions we asked ranged from, “Would you go to a less convenient location for a better loyalty program?” to, “Why did you stop actively participating in a loyalty program?” Our research gave us three key takeaways:

1. Loyalty programs need to stand out and differentiate from brand competitors (76% of consumers say the loyalty programs they belong to feel similar to one another)

2. Experience outweighs price in the eye of the consumer (63% of customers are willing to pay for a loyalty program if the perks are good enough)

3. Emotional connection requires meaningful rewards and frictionless experiences every step of the way (40% of consumer have left a loyalty program because it took too long to earn)
