Cybertruck & Roadster

Bring your Cybertruck to work day ๐Ÿ“น
More close-up footage showing the badassery of the Cybertruck.

Want to check out the new Roadster in person?
It will be at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, CA, from May 19 until June. Tickets are $45. I remember seeing the new Roadster at the shareholders event in 2019, such a beautiful car!

Software updates

FSD Beta 8.2 in busy San Francisco ๐Ÿ“น
Another great viedeo by AI DRIVR where we can see an extremely impressive display of โ€œrealโ€ driving.

2021.4.15.8 adds code to detect when the driver vacates their seat
Tesla takes safety very seriously. It only takes one irresponsible driver to accelerate updates like this one detected by @greentheonly in the software update 2021.4.15.8. It identifies when the driver vacates their seat and a couple of other safety limitations. ๐Ÿ™

2021.4.18 brings animal assets to the masses
The latest software update also brings cats and dogs visualizations to our cars. Some owners also claim to have seen colored cars for a split second. Or maybe it was a dream about the future?

Model S & X

Refreshed Model X video footage ๐Ÿ“น
We've seen quite a few photo and video footage of the refreshed Model S but not so much about the new Model X. Here's a video, showing the yoke style steering-wheel and all.

Tesla Model S Plaid sets new record for fastest 1/4 mile time of any production car
Tesla has set a new official record for the fastest quarter-mile time of any production car in their new Model S Plaid.  9.23 seconds with a trap speed of 152.16mph (244.88km/h) set at the at the Autoclub Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, CA. A full half-second quicker than the second fastest car on the list, the Porsche 918 Spyder. The previous record (9.4) was held by a Bugatti Chiron Sport. Not bad!

Tesla is attempting lap records with the Model S Plaid at Laguna Seca ๐Ÿ“น ๐Ÿ“ท
It seems like Tesla is attempting lap records at Laguna Seca with a couple of Model S Plaid models.  According to @klwtts, they may have secured a 1:30:XX. It looks amazing with the active spoiler in the pictures.

EV taxes & Batteries

Texas wants to charge Tesla & other EV owners ~$400 in annual fees for owning and EV
Wait, what? The claim was that EV owners need to pay their fair share and make up for fuel taxes that they donโ€™t pay. ๐Ÿ™„This makes no sense to me, in addition to help make the world a more sustainable place, Tesla is "only' bringing 10,000 jobs to the state of Texas ๐Ÿ˜ก

Model Y produced in Austin will come with the new 4680 batteries
Or so has shared Elon on Twitter. Pretty cool to see all the battery innovation arriving to the production lines already. I wonder what's going to happen in Freemont and the new models being delivered in the US west coast. ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿ’ก Tip of the week

[Only 3 and Y] For those of you with children in car seats, if the seatbelt alert shows up in one of the rear seats, you can press on the icon and it will transform into a car seat icon and stop bugging you.

๐Ÿค“ What the acronym

As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • EV - Electric Vehicle
  • FSD - Full Self-Driving
