How do you handle debugging in your everyday work?

"The techniques covered in this course are things I use every day on the job. Breakpoints are an essential pillar of any debugging workflow, and Xcode provides a really nice interface around them. Visually debugging views and UIs are also something that's proven invaluable for me. I cannot name the number of times I ran into a problem where some on-screen element wasn't the size I needed it to be, was not visible, or the colors were off.

Not having to resort to print statements or NSLog, being able to inspect and modify values at runtime, and simply having more visibility into my app's execution are the things that allow me to remain efficient and not worry too much when problems come up in my code.

Finally, being able to understand the call stack and see why the debugger landed on a specific line of code that causes a bug is great for improving my understanding of how to fix it."

Can you please share a cool iOS debugging tip with us?

"It's not well-known that you can actually type commands into the Xcode console while debugging, or that you can modify variable values via the console at runtime in order to try different results. Both of these are covered in the course and should help expand your debugging repertoire, and are cool tricks to impress your friends.

You'll be amazed at the cool reaction you'll get when you share the simple, but powerful, "po" command in the Xcode console with someone new to Xcode or Apple development."
