Inside Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis’s Sustainable L.A. Farmhouse

AD’s June issue, showcasing great American design from Beverly Hills to the Berkshires, is just out, and I am beyond excited for you to see the home of cover couple Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher. The famously press shy A-list couple spent five years creating their dream house. They turned to AD100 architect Howard Backen and AD100 interior designer Vicky Charles to craft a space both elevated and down-to-earth.

“We wanted the house to look like an old barn, something that had been here for decades, and then was converted into a house,” Kutcher told West Coast Editor Mayer Rus. “But it also had to feel modern and relevant. Of the process, Kunis noted: “Building a house from the ground up is no small thing. This was either going to make us or break us.” Fortunately they were aligned in their vision and the result is a stunning, sustainable, solar-powered, cornfield-planted, six-acre Shangri La they have affectionately dubbed KuKu Farms.

As mentioned, the entire issue is a celebration of American style now. There’s a grand, traditional mansion outside Cleveland, created by AD100 architect Peter Pennoyer and decorated by AD100 designers Miles Redd and David Kaihoi of Redd Kaihoi and a New York City town house where yet another set of AD100 stars, designer Julie Hillman and architect Steven Harris, seamlessly blended timeless classicism with contemporary cool. We also visit an eclectic family home in the bucolic Berkshires and an elegant equestrian estate in Westchester County, New York, with interiors conceived by AD100 designer Sheila Bridges.

It’s all “Made in the USA” and looking better than ever!
