Power BI Weekly Newsletter Issue #112

powered by endjin

Welcome to the 112th edition of Power BI Weekly! Another year, another BUILD event with plenty of talking points for Power BI. As ever, Arun Ulag has written a debrief on the whole event: Enabling intelligent experiences with Power BI for developers, data scientists, and data engineers, discussing BUILD announcements and things to look forward to in the very near future. Creating DAX expressions from natural language text being one of them... will there be a day where we don't have to write DAX code ourselves? 😲

Here are the things that have launched in the last week:

I personally find the first and second points particularly interesting - the first is a step closer to full automation of ALM scenarios for Power BI artifacts, and the second is a match made in heaven for those preferring the explorative, visual way of developing solutions.

A couple of books have been released this week that I wanted to highlight. If you've ever had to design Power BI themes from scratch, you'll appreciate how non-trivial it is (though it's a much nicer experience now than it has been in the past!) Adam Aspin's new book Power BI Theme Creation is a deep-dive into all things theming in Power BI, helping you on your styling journey. Elsewhere Daniil Maslyuk has highlighted that the Microsoft Exam Ref DA-100 is now available, a great resource for those looking to take the DA-100 exam.
