Join us in congratulating Academy Chancellor Joy Harjo, who was awarded two honorary doctor of humane letters degrees from the State University of New York and University of Pennsylvania, and was one of eight inductees to the 2021 National Native American Hall of Fame.

The 2021–2022 Poetry Coalition Fellowships

The Poetry Coalition, a network of over twenty-five poetry organizations coordinated by the Academy of American Poets, is pleased to announce the 2021–2022 Poetry Coalition Fellowships, which are paid fellowship positions for five individuals who will each assist a different Poetry Coalition organization for twenty hours per week over the course of a forty-week period. Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, July 6.

  • Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut, is seeking a tenure track Assistant Professor of Classical Literature to hold the Vincent J. Rosivach Professorship of Classical Studies.
     
  • The University of Arizona’s Poetry Center in Tucson is seeking a full-time Event Coordinator to support the Poetry Center’s affiliation with CantoMundo, the Art for Justice Program, among other responsibilities. 
 In this short Q&A, June Poem-a-Day guest editor, Anaïs Duplan, author of Blackspace: On the Poetics of an Afrofuture (Black Ocean, 2020), discusses their curatorial approach and their own creative work.
