Podnews - HTML links are back in Apple Podcasts

• Apple Podcasts has reinstated HTML links in podcast descriptions. The server-side change appears to be live for Podnews ▸, PodClock ▸ and for The Feed ▸ by Libsyn: it seems to be a recent change with the RSS parser used by the company. HTML links are important for podcasters to allow additional reading, affiliate links, sponsors or support: they broke with the rollout of the new Apple Podcasts infrastructure in late April.

• Podcast Movement 2021, in Nashville TN, USA next month, has unveiled its full schedule.

• Nominations for The People’s Choice Podcast Awards, the oldest podcasting awards, are now open. Podnews is listed in the politics and news category, and the People’s Choice Award: please consider voting for us.

• Mike Midden, who worked at the IAB on the podcast measurement guidelines, is now working for Google.

• Mukul Devichand is to work for The New York Times as Editor of Audio Programming. He has worked for 17 years at the BBC as a journalist and Editor, and recently focused on voice interfaces at the corporation.

• KQED is to open a PRX Podcast Garage in its new headquarters in San Francisco CA, USA. It’s due to open in September.

• NATPE Virtual - ContentCast, The Business Of Podcasting Content is a virtual conference on the morning of July 14th, 2021. It’s free to register; Podnews’s Editor, James Cridland, hosts a panel just before the closing keynote.

• PodcastOne has announced that its entire network is now available to play on the Facebook app in the US.

• Key Notes ▸ is a new interactive music show on Spotify hosted by Dissect’s Cole Cuchna. The first episode focuses on why sometimes music makes your skin tingle.
