It’s been 8 years since Nick was last on the Niche Pursuits podcast, but we’ve kept in touch and seen one another at conferences along the way.

It’s great to have him back on the podcast for this interview here because a lot has changed and he’s full of great advice.

The Side Hustle Nation blog has grown massively over the last few years, and the podcast is currently getting an incredible 10,000 downloads per day. In the interview, we talk about how he’s grown both these arms of the business and how they’re making money today.

One of the most interesting parts of the conversation is about how he adapts his podcast content into keyword-targeted evergreen content for his blog (SEO for the win!).

What is your website’s bounce rate like?

I asked what people’s thoughts were on bounce rate a couple of days ago in the Niche Pursuits Facebook group.

Google Analytics has my niche site’s (OwnTheYard.com) bounce rate at 87.5% with an average session duration of 40 seconds.

Here are some of the comments from the group:

Jason said, “I’ve always felt time on page is a better metric. Someone can count as a bounce if they aren’t going to any other pages on your website. That could be a good user experience if they got what they needed.”

Butch said, “Bounce Rate from GSC is an average of all your URLs. including the ones that are not producing any revenue. The bounce rate on eZoic Big Data Analytics shows you the bounce rate for each URL. My top 25 revenue generating URLs has a bounce rate of 20% while google is showing my average bounce rate @ 85%”

And Andrey said, “I watch those from Ezoic - completely different stats from Analytics”
