How can you get significant traffic in small competitive niches?

The team from Online Divorcer join us for a text-based interview on the blo right here to share how they started their business and grew it by 30% using good SEO practices.

Their primary business is providing the forms and information required to complete a divorce online.

The business is obviously dealing with sensitive topics like marriage break-ups and child custody, and so it’s an area that requires content written by experts.

Online Divorcer hired attorneys to write on these topics to provide their readers with helpful tips on their blog. This is part of the method they used to grow their presence online in this tough-to-rank in niche.

They also share how they used heat maps to improve their website design and user experience. By using these tools they were able to pinpoint where their visitors were becoming frustrated on the site and leaving, or where CTAs were not visible enough, among other things.

Final Reminder For The Traffic Course

Nick Loper from Side Hustle Nation joined me on the Niche Pursuits podcast this week, and we discussed the new course he recently released (among many other things).

Nick created and launched The Traffic Course in response to a survey he ran with the Side Hustle Nation audience.

He asked them what they were struggling with, and the two main things were:

1. Coming up with a side hustle to start off with, and
2. How to grow your existing side hustle

Because he already has an extensive list of possible side hustles he decided to focus on the ‘website growth’ problem. Namely, how to get traffic to your site.

He describes it in the interview as ‘here is the 80/20 of what you need to know about SEO without doing a ton of link building.’

New Niche Idea?

Travel… not another typical travel blog though, but a “Space Travel” blog.

With Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos recently making their trips to outer space. The race for space tourism is on.

While it will likely be a long while before your family's summer road trip is replaced with space travel. Companies like Virgin Galactic make it clear their goal is to bring space travel to as many people as possible.

According to Yahoo Finance, "Experts believe space tourism could blossom into a multi-billion-dollar market within the next decade."

While it might sound far-fetched, UBS analysts said hotel companies, airlines, and tour operators should start thinking about space now before it's too late.

While I don’t know if this would be a great niche blog as it may be some time before it really “takes off”. (pun intended) it would be a great shoulder niche to any travel or astronomy blog!
