Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tests positive for Covid-19.
Texas Tribune (Center) • Factual Grade 75% • 6 min read

Gov. Greg Abbott, who is fully vaccinated, is not experiencing any symptoms and is isolating at the Governor's Mansion, spokesperson Mark Miner said in a statement. Abbott has kept up public appearances in recent days. He spoke Monday night at an event in Collin County, later tweeting photos of him addressing a maskless crowd.
    ...
State Rep. Rafael Anchia, D-Dallas, said that he was praying Abbott's diagnosis "will cause him to rescind the order stopping schools from requiring masks." The state has been battling school districts in court over their decisions to require masks in defiance of Abbott's order.
    ...
The antibody treatment that Abbott is receiving — a cocktail made by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals — is one that Abbott has increasingly promoted. Hoping to prevent hospitalizations and reserve hospital capacity, Texas recently opened nine antibody infusion centers that use the Regeneron antibodies. It was not exactly clear why Abbott was receiving the treatment if he was not experiencing symptoms.

Context: Federal water cuts in western US states as a 20-yr drought pattern continues.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

No - I don't expect I will need to in Texas this summer but I wouldn't rule it out for future summers. I work for a government agency in water resources and water supply is definitely a growing concern. Most states have state water plans that plan 50 years out. The plans attempt to account for population growth and associated increased water requirements. But building water supply reservoirs is nearly impossible these days due to land acquisition, environmental permitting and even cultural constraints.
