Announcing the 2021 Poetry Coalition Fellows

The Poetry Coalition is pleased to present its second cohort of the Poetry Coalition Fellowship program. These five individuals have been selected to receive paid fellowships, each at a different host organization within the Poetry Coalition: Asian American Writers’ Workshop, Beyond Baroque, Indigenous Nations Poets (In-Na-Po), Lambda Literary, and Zoeglossia.

SPAC Names Richard Blanco First Visiting Artist 

Congratulations to our Education Ambassador, Richard Blanco, who has been selected to launch Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s School of the Arts. Blanco will serve as Visiting Artist as well as a mentor for the 2022 Adirondack Trust Company Festival of Young Artists. Register for the SOTA Open House reading on Saturday,  September 18, here

Accepting Submissions for 2022 First Book Award

There is still time to submit to the 2022 Academy of American Poets First Book Award, the nation’s most generous first-book prize for poetry, judged by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Tyehimba Jess. The winner will receive $5,000 and their manuscript will be published by Graywolf Press in 2023. Submissions will be accepted online between August 1 and October 1, 2021, and the recipient will be announced in April 2022 during National Poetry Month.

The University of Iowa in Iowa City is seeking a Director of Undergraduate Creative Writing and Associate Professor of English to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and help manage the department. 

University of Louisiana Monroe is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in African-American Literature. 

Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters in Madison is seeking a full-time Executive Director to lead and provide oversight for the Academy's financial stability, programming, staff management, and more.
