Dems can't include amnesty in reconciliation bill, parliamentarian rules.
Washington Examiner (Moderate Right) • Factual Grade 79% • 2 min read

The Senate parliamentarian [ruled] that provisions giving an estimated 8 million illegal immigrants and non-citizens legal permanent resident status and a pathway to citizenship could not be included in Democrats’ $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation legislation. [Budget reconciliation] allows them to bypass the need for votes from at least 10 Senate Republicans.
    ...
But bills in that process are not allowed to concern measures “extraneous” to the budget. [The Senate parliamentarian] said that “the policy changes of this proposal far outweigh the budgetary impact scored to it and it is not appropriate for inclusion in reconciliation.”
    ...
Senate Majority Leader Schumer pledged to hold additional meetings with the parliamentarian to discuss alternative proposals to address the issue. Earlier this year, the Senate parliamentarian blocked Democrats from adding a $15-an-hour minimum wage provision to a Covid-19 spending bill that also went through the reconciliation process.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

No - All art appreciation, even TV and pop music, is ultimately purely subjective. But awards shows always give awards for the “best,” as if there are objective criteria for determining that. There aren’t. If they admitted it was a popularity contest and gave awards for the “Favorite,” then, fine. And let people vote from home, because their tastes are just as relevant as any “academy” member’s.
