Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order barring private companies in Texas from mandating Covid-19 vaccines.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed an executive order barring any Texas entity, including private businesses, from issuing Covid-19 vaccine mandates. Abbott said the vaccines were safe and encouraged those who were eligible to get them but said they should be voluntary.
    ...
A previous executive order had already barred government agencies, cities, counties, and school districts from imposing Covid-19 vaccine requirements. The executive order is likely to put Texas up against the federal government after President Joe Biden last month announced plans to require private businesses with more than 100 employees to require Covid-19 vaccination.
    ...
"The Biden Administration is now bullying many private entities into imposing vaccine mandates, causing workforce disruptions that threaten Texas's continued recovery," Abbott said in the order. Several Texas-based companies, including the major airlines American and Southwest, have said they'd abide by Biden's mandate.

Would you reduce meat consumption to curtail methane emissions?

498 votes, 54 comments

Context: 32 countries, including the US, pledge to reduce methane emissions 30% by 2030.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

No - Most other alternative sources of protein come with their own set of problems - nuts use water; our oceans are overfished and a salmon takes years to replace a cow can be replaced in 3 years; chicken farms seem inhumane. Though we should, in general, reduce red meat consumption for cardiovascular health, for the planet, I am focusing on the car I drive; how I insulate, heat, and cool my house; the packaging in what I buy; consuming fewer disposables.
