How would the Democrats' proposed 'billionaire tax' work?

What is a "billionaire's tax," and how would it work?
CBS News (Moderate Left) • Factual Grade 85% • 5 min read

Democrats are considering a new tax on billionaires that would help fund their proposed $3.2 trillion social spending package. The proposal would only impact taxpayers with more than $1 billion in assets, or those with incomes of more than $100 million for three consecutive years.
    ...
A key change under the plan is that tradable assets, such as stocks, would be valued annually. Billionaires would be taxed on their gains whether they have sold the asset or not. Under current law, a gain is only taxed if it is "realized" — when its owner sells the asset and books the profit. [This proposal is not the same as a wealth tax] because this tax would be levied on annual gains, instead of a person's entire wealth.
    ...
On Twitter, Tesla founder Elon Musk — the world's richest person, with an estimated wealth of $288 billion — warned that the tax could be expanded to hit additional taxpayers. Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell called it a "harebrained scheme" and warned of revenue drying up during downturns.
  1. Different political viewpoint
Democrats' proposed 'billionaire tax' is definitely a wealth tax, and it may be unconstitutional.

Should police officers be required to get vaccinated against Covid-19?

Context: Florida governor gives relocation bonuses to officers as some refuse covid vaccination mandate.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

Yes - Officers have the right to force you into close physical contact with them, to enter your home, and to detain you for extended periods in small closed spaces with them. Officers with those rights should be required to vaccinate themselves against a potentially deadly disease that spreads best in just those circumstances. Further, an unvaccinated police force could be decimated by an outbreak, making officer vaccination crucial for public safety.
