Creator Wizard - 🧙♂️ Why Creator Wizard exists
Hey Creator, β I wanted to share the story behind why I started Creator Wizard π§ββοΈ and why I feel so strongly about helping creators like you build a more diversified income & sustainable career. Firstly, who am I? Before becoming a creator 10+ years ago, I was actually in medical devices! I owe everything to my wife April who started making videos as a hobby (this was back before you could really make money on social media!) & her channel really started to get traction π. It wasnβt long before brands started reaching out to collaborate with her and she asked me to help figure out the business side of things, interpreting the contracts she was getting, etc. I also started making cameos in some of her videos π€£ π . We started a cooking channel and a family vlog channel and did DAILY videos π for several years, eventually growing our total following to over 1,500,000! Six weeks after our first son Liam was born, I quit my 9-5 job π and we both officially became full-time creators. Back then (6 years ago), the ad revenue that we made from YouTube was 95% of our income and brand deals were 5%. It became clear pretty quickly that we needed to diversify, so I decided to start an influencer marketing agency focused on pairing family-friendly creators with brands. To date, Trending Family has paid out over $2,000,000 to creators! π€ How important are brand deals now? Well, these days, our income from our social platforms is 95% brand deals and 5% YouTube ad revenue (a complete flip-flop) π±. The speed at which things change in the influencer/creator landscape is so fast and it can give you whiplash if youβre not prepared. From algorithm changes to burnout to competing with other creators who buy likes π‘, you have to grow a thick skin and roll with the punches π₯. BUT itβs also the most exciting time to be a creator! There are SO many more tools out there to create amazing content + SO many more ways to monetize than ever before! Things like fan-funding, merch, digital products (courses, ebooks, etc.), premium content and more! πΈ At the same time, there are BIG changes happening on the business side of things. Pretty much every brand now has a dedicated βInfluencer Marketing Manager,β a title that essentially didnβt exist a few years ago. How should creators capitalize on that? Plus, there are literally hundreds of influencer marketing platforms now where creators can sign up and apply for paid campaigns. But which ones are best? π¨βπ» *And* the money just keeps pouring into the influencer marketing space -- brands are on track to spend $15 Billion+ by 2022. So how can creators like you make sense of it all? What should you focus on? There is a lot of advice out there focused on content/platform strategy, how to get more followers, how to optimize your feed, etc. But what about the *business* of being a creator? ...That's where Creator Wizard comes in π. I'm so curious why you first started creating content so please hit reply and share your story! β Talk soon, β β β
