NFL OBJ Heads to L.A. Photo: Diamond Images / Getty Images NFL Headlines: Rams Sign WR Odell Beckham Jr. / Panthers Bring Back QB Cam Newton
Two big name free agents found new homes (or old homes) on Thursday. The Los Angeles Rams won the Odell Beckham Jr. sweepstakes just hours after the Carolina Panthers brought back former QB Cam Newton in the wake of Sam Darnold’s injury. Here’s the latest on the big additions for the NFL’s stretch run…
WR Odell Beckham Jr. → Rams The former Browns wide receiver was released by the team last week. After clearing waivers, Beckham Jr. found the Super Bowl contender he was looking for. The Rams signed him Thursday to add firepower to an already loaded offense. QB Matthew Stafford has another weapon — one he’s familiar with from their experience together at the Pro Bowl. OBJ becomes the second high-profile addition to the Rams after L.A. acquired pass-rusher Von Miller from the Broncos.
QB Cam Newton → Panthers The Panthers made a call to their former MVP quarterback on Thursday and signed him to a $10 million deal for the remainder of the season. Carolina QB Sam Darnold suffered a shoulder injury last week that should keep him out for 4-6 weeks. Newton played nine seasons for the Panthers from 2011-2019 before being released. He then joined the Patriots for one season before getting cut during this year’s preseason. QB P.J. Walker is expected to start this Sunday against the Cardinals.

NFL Dolphins Down Ravens on TNF Photo: Michael Reaves / Getty Images Miami Defense Suffocates Baltimore (22-10) On Thursday Night Football
Week 10 kicked off with an upset on Thursday night, as the Dolphins (3-7) locked down the Ravens (6-3) en route to a 22-10 victory to mark their second straight win. Jacoby Brisset originally got the start for Miami due to Tua Tagovailoa, but left the game with a knee injury while taking a sack early in the third quarter. Tua then came in and gave a gutsy performance, throwing for an efficient 158 yards on 8/13 passing. He also iced the game down the stretch with a 64-yard completion to Albert Wilson that set up a 1-yard touchdown on a QB sneak to make it a two-score game with 1:53 remaining.
Baltimore’s Offense Lays an Egg The biggest surprise was Baltimore’s offense, or lack thereof. Their 10 points last night was the lowest amount they’ve ever scored in a game with Lamar Jackson starting, and it came against the 30th ranked defense in the league. Jackson was visibly frustrated on the sidelines at points throughout the game, and for good reason. He was under constant pressure all night as Miami’s defensive pressure was simply too much for Baltimore’s O-Line, resulting in four sacks in the process.
QB Comparison Jackson (BAL): 26/43, 238 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT Brissett (MIA): 11/23, 156 yards Tagovailoa (MIA): 8/13, 158 yards

🎥 THE HIGHLIGHTS 🏀 NBA: Clippers Win 6th Straight The L.A. Clippers started the season with an abysmal 1-4 record, but they’ve reeled off six straight following Thursday’s win over the Heat (112-109). Paul George (27 points) has led the way with 26.0 ppg during the streak.
🏒 NHL: Kings Capture NHL-Best 7th Straight The L.A. Kings are riding a league-best seven-game win streak after goaltender Jonathan Quick shut out the Senators (2-0) on Thursday. Quick had 34 saves in the win where nine Ottawa players were in COVID-19 protocol.
