Forbes, as our 10th anniversary 30 Under 30 list will go live on Wednesday. We will be calling out well-known alumni from the list all week, starting today with Steve Bertonis feature on Spotify CEO Daniel Ek, who’s hoping to make his site the TikTok and Instagram of audio. Stay tuned as we have a terrific package to come, anchored by Alexandra Wilson and Alexandra Sternlicht.

Have a great week.

The Next Wave

While global leaders nervously track the emergence of the omicron coronavirus variant, tackling the delta variant remains the top priority of the World Health Organization. The concern, of course, is that highly-mutated coronavirus variants may be more transmissible and resistant to the protection offered by vaccines. Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has become the latest leader to test positive for Covid-19, making his team home to one of the largest known outbreaks in the NFL this season.

Billionaire investor Ray Dalio believes the confluence of rising U.S. debt and income disparities, along with America’s diminished influence, has put the country at risk of not just economic hardship, but war. In fact, he puts 30% odds on the U.S. entering a conflict within the next five years if it doesn’t get its house in order.

America’s pressing issues are more than simply an investment thesis for the man who’s built the world’s largest hedge fund, with assets in excess of $150 billion. They are a call to action that underpin the core thesis of his latest book, The Changing World Order: How and Why Nations Succeed and Fail, that comes out tomorrow. He spoke with Maneet Ahuja about his concerns.

That’s the number of unvaccinated workers who say they would lie about their vaccine status to keep their jobs, according to a new study. With new variants looming, employers might want to be extra diligent about making sure their policies are being followed.
