Growth Notes from Hypefury - December edition 📖
To celebrate Thanksgiving, we have a surprise for you at the bottom ;)
Three Growth Tips 🌱
1. Personal Account vs Brand Account
If you are on Twitter to promote your business, what account should you use - Personal or Brand?
A lot of people are facing this dilemma - so it's let's weigh the Pros and Cons.
Personal account
Pros
- You can leverage your audience which you've already built.
- People will see you as a human they've been interacting with and not a tool/company
- You can build in public, let people be with you in the process and they might be your first customers.
Cons
- If you focus too much on advertising your business, people will stop following you.
- It may get difficult for you to manage business-related DMs and notifications and keep them separate from your personal notifications.
Brand Account
Pros
- People know where to go if they are facing problems with the product/or have questions
- You can reply to those discussions around your product without coming off as too advertise-y to followers (if it were your personal account)
- This account can solely be product + value featured and a separate “work” one for you (instead of handling all from one)
Cons
- The followers grow slowly. People generally don’t want to look at offers or direct selling on their feeds.
- The engagement remains atrociously minimal. Look at Gillette - they have 125k followers and they rarely get 10 likes on their tweets.
- You need to be mindful of your content. It shouldn’t be just centered around your product but should have some value /fun.
2. A secret tip to earn you more followers!
Whenever someone new likes or engages with your content,
- Go to their profile
- Like a few tweets
- Engage and add valuable comments (if possible)
You’ll be surprised, 7 out of 10 people will end up following you!
How the hell does this work? 😕
3. Ask Questions
You will be surprised by the engagement you receive on your tweets by asking simple questions.
Something as simple as -
- What’s 1 thing that matters in your Twitter journey?
- What are the 3 keys to making money online?
- What advice would you give to your 18 y/o version?
- Is college a scam? lol
- Are get rich quick courses a scam?
Might seem dumb to you but simple questions mean the audience does not have to think too much and can reply on the go!
You can step it up by adding conditions. Add a condition for them while replying.
Examples:
- Define yourself in 5 words
- What is your goal on Twitter in ONE LINE?
- Ruin a date in 5 words
Go ahead and try these 😍
PS - If you use Hypefury, we have the “Questions” tab in our Inspiration Panel 🙈
You can just reuse them😌
Two Tweet Writing Tips ✍️
1. Include Comparisons
Do you need your idea to make an impact on someone’s mind?
Then use an idea that’s already in their mind.
How?
Comparisons!
Comparisons create clarity. They are easy to understand and have a lasting impact.
Example:
If I’m pitching you the LiquidSpace app, I could call it… “An online marketplace to rent hybrid workspaces.”
Or, I could call it… “Airbnb for Office Spaces
Let’s look at a tweet that uses comparison -
2. Viral Writing 101
The Ship30For30 Team has given you the process behind viral writing.
GO USE IT -
People only like to share stuff that connects with them on a personal level.
So whenever you have a content idea, slow down & ask yourself:
“What emotion do I want to bring out here?”
There are 8 universal emotions you can bring out with your content:
- NSFW: that’s crazy!
- LOL: that’s so funny
- OHHH: now I get it!
- WOW: that’s amazing!
- AWW: that’s sooo cute
- YAY: that’s great news!
- WTF: that pisses me off
- FINALLY: someone said it!
If your idea doesn’t elicit any emotions, your chances of going viral are LOW.
No matter how actionable or analytical your content idea is, you can find a way to frame it in such a way that it triggers an emotional response.
Folks under 10K you should follow right away!🌟
Sachin is a phenomenal example of 'own your own niche'. He coined the term 'Hyper Visual thread' and converts valuable tweets and threads into a ready-to-grab visual format. In his words "Hyper-visual thread is my new category where irrespective of how big the thread is, I visualize and summarize it into one mobile-screen size visual."
From "How to get rich without getting lucky" by Naval to Sahil Bloom's, Dickie Bush's threads, he's done it all.
Needless to say, if you want to apply what you learn on Twitter and let those threads make a difference in your life, you should be following right away.
He also sends out 39 milliseconds - a newsletter about 3 ideas from the world’s top creators.
Louis is aiming to solve what most builders ignore - building tools that requires no maintenance. His mission is to build assets that work while sleeping and help people with them. One of his most known tool is - "Read Something Great" - a website that dishes out 5 links to timeless articles on the internet. His twitter timeline is filled with timeless thoughts and ideas for builders and creators. Recently he conducted a 12-hour experiment to build a side project from an idea to revenue in 12 hours. If you're on Twitter for building tools, SAAS, and an income, Louis is a must follow!
