1. Instead of winding down for the holidays, the southern half of the Philippines was unexpectedly battered by Typhoon #OdettePH this past week. The YGG Pilipinas team has been rallying to raise donations and support relief efforts across the Visayas region, where a majority of our community resides. An estimated 55,000 homes have been destroyed, with at least 385,000 Filipinos displaced. In Bohol and Surigao City, the current expectation is that people will need to stay in evacuation centers for up to 6 months while their homes are rebuilt.

2. The YGG Pilipinas fundraising campaign for OdettePH victims began exactly a week ago on Friday morning, and we’ve so far received over $600,000 (30M PHP) in donations from the global crypto community. There’s a lot of people I want to thank for their contributions, but in the interest of having a short newsletter today, I will instead share the blockchain explorer links below (you can see a lot of donor names there) and talk about where all the funds are currently heading. All of our allocations are listed in this publicly-viewable Google sheet.
   

3. The first donation address is yggph.eth on the Ethereum base network. We received over 60 donations here, amounting to over $400,000 (PHP 20M). We began deploying funds as early as Saturday afternoon, the day after the typhoon had blown past Visayas. Some of these funds went to professional organizations like World Food Programme Philippines ($20,000) and World Vision Development Foundation ($20,000) and ACCORD ($20,000). We also supported several community-led efforts targeting specific locations like a medical mission to Siargao Island ($4,000), a private plane bringing supplies to Surigao del Norte ($2,000), the #BangonBohol volunteer team trekking to District 2 in Bohol ($3,000), a group setting up 10 diesel power generators to Cebu City ($3,000), and an Axie Alerts-led team delivering meals and drinking water to Tigbauan, Iloilo and Sipalay, Negros ($10,000). On Tuesday the 21st, we purchased 66,900 cans of sardines and 35,000 liters of drinking water ($40,000) and split them between teams from the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine Navy. These distribution teams traveled by sea and were deployed to communities in Cebu, Siargao, and Dinagat Island over the next few days. On Wednesday, we purchased 13.5 tons of rice ($10,000) for the Save Palawan Seas Foundation.
   

4. The second donation address was ronin:bf298227e40c55f5d5a85e5aecc61c622f4b20ac on the Ronin layer 2 network. This address received over 400 individual donations, amounting to over $200,000 (PHP10M). I’ve said it before but I’m most impressed by the small donations because it makes me believe that people really do want to help each other whenever they can. If you look at the size of the deposits in that wallet, you’ll see some that are as small as 10 SLP (15 pesos). It might not be much, but it meant something to the person who sent it.
   

5. Yesterday we began our #cryptoAyuda program in earnest, distributing 10,000 pesos to affected households who sign up at our form https://bit.ly/yggodetteph. So far we’ve reached 350 households and are targeting 1,500 before the end of the year. We’d like to thank our exchange partners XLD Finance and Moneybees for all their hard work (especially during the holidays) and for subsidizing a lot of the costs in exchanging crypto and transferring fiat.
