Forbes - Over 100,000 hospitalized

Daily new Covid-19 cases have reached an all-pandemic high, according to the CDC. Hospitalizations are also on the rise – over 103,000 people in the U.S. are now hospitalized with Covid-19l. The state of Florida is one of many seeing record highs, which has led its Governor Ron DeSantis to demand 30-40,000 monoclonal antibody doses from Lilly and Regeneron, despite evidence showing these treatments aren’t effective against the omicron variant. Other states such as Oklahoma and New York are waiting on antibody doses manufactured by AstraZeneca or GlaxoSmithKline/Vir, both treatments that have shown to be effective against omicron. The Department of Health and Human Services says more antibody treatments are on the way, but there may not be enough supply to keep up with demand if cases continue to increase.
