French President Emmanuel Macron said his administration's coronavirus restrictions are intended to “piss off” and make life hard for those who are still unvaccinated, sparking backlash and stalling parliamentary debate on the new legislation.

Top Take-Aways

Utah-based startup Entrata, valued in 2021 at more than $1 billion, has swiftly cut ties with its cofounder and former CEO Dave Bateman after he sent an email espousing anti-semitic vaccine conspiracy theories to a group of Utah tech and political leaders.

Former congressman
John Ratcliff left the House in 2020 to become Donald Trump’s director of national intelligence. He still has access to $270,000 in campaign accounts, leftover from the old days. Recently, he’s been funneling a lot of that money to his wife.

Evergrande spent most of 2021 on the edge of financial collapse, and 2022 doesn’t look much better. The embattled Chinese property developer has asked some of its onshore bondholders not to exercise their right to demand early repayment of the company’s bonds.

Entering 2022, markets continue to be powered by strong earnings growth as advisors and investors price in inflation and
expected interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve. Here’s what several investment strategists foresee for the next 360 days.

Panasonic, Tesla’s main battery partner since its earliest days, plans to use recycled materials supplied by a startup led by the electric-car maker’s former tech chief to produce lithium-ion cells in a more sustainable, “closed loop” fashion.

California-based startup
Waymark shifted out of stealth mode with $45 million in Series A funding to embed trained community health workers and workflow management software in primary care practices across the country to try and move the needle on value-based care for Medicaid patients.
