dispatch from i still don't understand doctor who
Welcome to this week’s dispatch from the lesbian internet, a mid-week news roundup from Paging Dr. Lesbian. If you like this type of thing, subscribe, and share it with your friends. Welcome to the new year! A lot has happened, so let’s jump right into it. Obviously, I need to mention the gay events of And Just Like That. According to my research, Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) finally hooked up with Che (Sara Ramirez). This also happened in Carrie’s apartment after her surgery which resulted in Carrie peeing in the bed because Miranda was too busy having a gay awakening to come help her. As a non-SATC watcher, it was obvious to me this was going to happen as soon as Sara Ramirez was brought on board. If you’re going to make someone on the show be gay, it’s obviously going to be Cynthia Nixon. The screenshots from the episode do kind of make me want to rinse out my eyes though. In other news, a teaser trailer for the final season of Killing Eve has been released. The trailer doesn’t reveal much but apparently, this season will see Villanelle joining some sort of religious community in an attempt to atone for her sins. The final season will premiere on February 27. I think the below tweet sums up the state of the Killing Eve fandom right about now. if they get a sad ending and there isn't even a scene where they rail each other i will do something to end up on international news Killing Eve @KillingEve Actions have consequences. #KillingEve https://t.co/IIFz5zI7AUIn sports news, soccer player Kristie Mewis and her soccer player gf Sam Kerr continue to be cute on Instagram. Christen Press and (her “rumored” gf) Tobin Heath celebrated Christen’s birthday and the holidays in the snow. There’s really no way anyone can deny that they’re together at this point. JoJo Siwa guest hosted two episodes of The Ellen Show in late December. This is exciting because it fulfills the eternal lesbian prophecy and restores balance to the universe. In other news, something gay has happened on Doctor Who. If you didn’t know, this iteration of The Doctor is played by Jodie Whittaker, and she is the first female doctor the series has ever seen. Fans have shipped The Doctor with one of her companions, Yaz (Mandip Gil), from the very beginning. As it turns out, fans might be getting their wish, as it was revealed in the most recent episode that Yaz really does have romantic feelings for The Doctor. It’s not yet confirmed whether The Doctor reciprocates these feelings (or whether she can/will considering her unique predicament), but this is a win for queer fans of the show. There has been a queer companion in the past – Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) – but this would mark the first time a queer relationship between Doctor and companion could be on the table. If you have any gay thoughts about Doctor Who, sound off in the comments. It was revealed to me, via the indispensable lesbiancinema account on Instagram, that there were a total of five lesbian weddings on television this year. I can’t say this with 100% certainty, but I’m pretty sure that’s a TV record, at least as television airing in the U.S. goes. The couples in question are Maze and Eve from Lucifer, Ava and Sara from Legends of Tomorrow, Nicole and Waverly from Wynonna Earp, Maya and Carina from Station 19, and Alex and Kelly from Supergirl. Certainly, there are critiques to be made about the institution of marriage itself and the notion that marriage is the end goal of all relationships, but as someone who has watched queer tv closely for the last decade, this is a pretty incredible statistic and definitely something that would have been hard to imagine five or ten years ago. Other sightings from this week: Celesbian mover and shaker Liz Lambert hosted a new years party and in attendance were Carrie Brownstein, St. Vincent, and Connie Britton. Connie always hanging out with lesbians definitely has me Thinking. Torres celebrated the holidays and wore a great shirt. Anna Kendrick attended an event with a hot lesbian on her arm and the Anna Kendrick lesbians literally lost their minds. (Apparently, it was a false alarm and the woman in question already has a girlfriend). Other things:
That’s all for this week, folks! Stay tuned for more. I will leave you with this image of Kehlani in Playboy. If you liked this post from Paging Dr. Lesbian, why not share it? |
