Issue 197 - Heated wipers

Hardware Updates

Heated wipers coming soon to the Tesla Model 3/Y in China 📷
A feature that used to be exclusive to the Model S is about to make its way to the 2022 Model 3 and Model Y in China – heated wipers. If the past is a window into the future, we should expect to see this in a few months in the US-made Model 3s and Ys.

New AMD Ryzen in Model 3 and Y also contains a dedicated GPU
When the new Model 3s and Ys started carrying the new AMD Ryzen, many folks said it didn't have a dedicated GPU and, because of that, it couldn't run the future games (like Cyberpunk and The Witcher). Newer information seems to indicate that the new MCU computer also comes with a dedicated GPU, cool!

V11

Tesla’s Elon Musk confirms V11 UI improvements after receiving owners’ feedback
Many owners have complained about the UX of the new V11 software, especially some functions like the driver profiles, wipers, etc. that are now headers to quickly access. In a reply to our fiend TeslaRaj, Elon said that many UI improvements are coming. Seems that the Tesla team has gotten the feedback from the community, loud and clear.

Tips for Tesla V11 UI 📹
The WholeMarsBlog goes through some of the V11 UI changes, giving some great tips, like using the stalk to bring the quick controls.

DIY

Pro Tip: You can fix trunk alignment and gaps yourself
Do you have small trunk panel gaps? If so, there are 4 rubber bumpers on the trunk itself, and you can adjust them by either tightening or loosening each one until the trunk is aligned when closed.

New Factories

[Rumor] Production for Giga Texas starts next week
If this is true, it will be great news to folks in Europe waiting to order a Tesla from their local factory. Once the production ramps up a bit, I would expect the European-made Tesla to be a bit cheaper, since it won't include customs fees and will be cheaper to transport.

🤓 What the acronym

As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.

  • FSD -  Full Self-Driving
  • GPU - Graphics Processing Unit
  • MCU - Media Control Unit
