Switch Weekly - Is Mario Kart 9 on the way?
Let's twist again. Web version | Unsubscribe Hello, here's issue #264 of Switch Weekly with your Nintendo round-up. An interesting tidbit for you this week comes via analyst Dr. Serkan Toto who offers up this: "I am aware Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still selling very well on the Nintendo Switch, but Mario Kart 9 is in active development (and comes with a new twist) and Nintendo could tease it this year." — via this gamesindustry predictions post. Whether you buy that or not, it's fun to see a possible sequel being talked about. What do you think the twist could be this time around? Oh, btw there's going to be no in-person E3 this year, instead they are opting for a virtual event yet again — kinda surprising how early in the year they've announced this. It really does feel like the end of this event as we know it. Yup, times change, and things move on for sure, and the pandemic may well have just accerelated what was inevitable anyway, but it does feel like a notable thing to see this landmark event coming to its probable end - E3 has been the stage to so many of our cultural moments in gaming. Anyway, next week there's just over a dozen games coming to the Switch. Full list with details is below. Before I go it's worth mentioning that Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) returns this week, and it all kicks off today - like now. Nintendo Life have a round-up of some of the runs you may want to tune in for. There's always something fun to watch, and it's all for a good cause — I've got my donation in. Cheers, What happens to gaming in 2022? Analysts offer their predictions —A panel of industry watchers revisit their calls for 2021 and make a few more for the year ahead, the interesting tidbits here: one analyst claims Mario Kart 9 is on the way, and another thinks there will be no Switch Pro, and instead Nintendo's next console will arrive in 2024. Pinch of salt on all this of course, but it's fun to speculate and look into the crystal ball sometimes. Nice to see it in more detail...but I still think it looks a little lacking. Nintendo // YouTube REVIEW Picross S7 —"At long last, touchscreen support comes to Picross S". Neal Ronaghan // Nintendo World Report REVIEW Life is Strange: True Colors —"an absolute blast of an experience to play though, and I would absolutely recommend it.".
