Hello my friends.

Here's what I picked this week, enjoy!

1. Know how your org works (or how to become a more effective engineer)

TL;DR: Why it’s important to know how your organisation works if you want to achieve something.

My notes:

  • Before you try to change the system, learn how it works.
  • Trending ideas from conferences & twitter can go against your company’s priorities.
  • If you want to implement a trendy idea, you must first find out the organization's current priorities.
  • What is important to know about the company: formal hierarchy, informal hierarchy, history of important decisions [what, why, how and by whom], company policies and processes.

2. CSS in 2022

TL;DR: CSS features we can expect to land in browsers in 2022.

My hot list:

  1. Container queries
  2. Cascade layers
  3. Viewport units
  4. :has()
  5. Overscroll behaviour
  6. Media query ranges

3. The WebSocket Handbook

TL;DR: A free ebook about WebSockets with a deep dive into how it works.

Tweet of the Week

It's never too late.
