Forbes - Weddings are making a comeback in 2022

Happy Valentine’s Day! One side effect of the pandemic has been that thousands of weddings over the past two years were canceled or postponed. That’s not likely to be the case in 2022, however. A new survey by wedding website The Knot estimates that around 2.6 million weddings will take place this year. “Weddings are, without a doubt, back to pre-pandemic levels,” The Knot’s Hannah Nowack told Forbes lifestyle reporter Tanya Kilch.

A lot of those weddings will likely look more traditional, too. In 2021, The Knot found that 85% of couples enforced at least one health and safety measure at their wedding to protect their guests from Covid, and on average they had three such measures. But many couples getting wed in 2022 are eschewing them, although smaller weddings with guests numbering in the 20s and 30s remain more popular than affairs with over 100 guests. “Intimate, smaller weddings are also here to stay,” says Vasso Power, director of catering at Chicago hotel The Gwen.
