Major GOP Donor Who Allegedly Used Embezzled Money To Support Trump's Campaign Walks Daughter Down The Aisle At Mar-a-Lago

In the past 25 months, as Checks & Imbalances has reported about previously, serial entrepreneur Richard Kofoed filed for personal bankruptcy, was accused by a business associate of embezzling millions, donated $800,000 to the GOP along with his wife, sipped rare bourbons in Trump’s D.C. hotel with Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), moved into a Trump-owned home next door to Mar-a-Lago and filed for bankruptcy for one of his businesses.

Adding to that run, last weekend Kofoed walked his daughter down the aisle at Mar-a-Lago.

Checks & Imbalances wasn’t able to determine who paid the former president’s private club to host Caitlin Kofoed’s posh wedding ceremony and reception last weekend. The Kofoeds and their attorneys did not respond to requests for comment. And Kofoed denies and has counter sued over the aforementioned embezzlement claim. (Caitlin, by the way, is not the Kofoed daughter Trump’s PAC paid $16,000 to for administrative labor over the last three months of 2021. That’s Cassidy.)

While there’s no shortage of photos of the Kofoeds mingling with Trump World and GOP royalty over the past few years, social-media posts showing who attended the wedding have been sparse.

Trump advisor, Don Jr.’s fiancée and recipient of a subpoena from the House’s Jan. 6 committee, Kimberly Guilfoyle had a table assignment at the reception, although it’s not clear if she attended (video does show her at the rehearsal dinner the night before though). In November, ProPublica reported that Kofoed chartered a plane that shepherded Guilfoyle out of D.C. after she spoke at the Jan. 6 rally to overturn the election results.

Jack Brewer, a Trump-supporting former NFL player whom the Securities and Exchange Commission charged with insider trading in August 2020, officiated the wedding.

In other Kofoed news, a judge ruled in February that Richard owed a private aviation firm $52,000 for an unpaid charter flight from Salt Lake City to West Palm Beach that he took in March 2021.

As for the next date in the bankruptcy proceedings for Acceler8 Real Estate Group, a single-asset real-estate business headed by Kofoed that appears to own home their San Diego-area home, a status conference is scheduled for April 4.

Updates on Checks & Imbalances’ previous reporting

Emily Murphy, who protected Donald Trump as his head of the General Services Administration, joined the board of directors for Medical Properties Trust the company announced last week. The firm is a real estate investment trust that acquires and develops hospital facilities.

Murphy has had no storage of opportunities since leaving the Trump Administration, where she refused to comply with a Congressional subpoena to turnover the financial reports for Trump’s D.C. hotel. In November, Murphy landed a position at George Mason, where she shares her insights about government contracting, and became an executive coach for CEO Coaching International. She also now sits on the boards of advisors for SkillStorm, which trains and staffs tech workers for commercial and federal organizations, and government contractor Vita Inclinata.

Murphy's latest gig was first reported

Parler Launches NFT Marketplace With New Trump NFTs
"Parler, the right-leaning social media app, has rolled out a new NFT marketplace, DeepRedSky. It plans to sell tokens like the new CryptoTrump Club, a set of 250 NFTs emblazoned with President Trump’s image," reports Abram Brown for Forbes:

While DeepRedSky’s debut listing, the CryptoTrump Club, may bear the 45th president’s likeness, it wasn’t created by President Trump, Farmer says. He declined to identify the creator of CryptoTrump Club. The CryptoTrump Club shows the former president in a variety of settings, priced at $2,750 each.

I took an unusual route to get here. In a past life, I worked as a travel and food writer, which is how I got the assignment in 2016 to cover the grand opening of the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., just a couple miles from my home. When Trump won the election and refused to divest his business, I stayed on the story, starting a newsletter called 1100 Pennsylvania (named after the hotel’s address), and contributed to Vanity Fair, Politico and NBC News. I’m still interested in Trump, but I’ve broadened my focus to follow the money connected to other politicians as well—both Republicans and Democrats.
