Glowreel - Break The Bias, Every Damn Day

Glowreel Purple Text Logo

How are you doing? It’s been a week, right?! I’ve been feeling pretty overwhelmed with everything going on in the world right now. So I’ve been mindful of carving out space for rest and self-care. I hope you’re looking after yourself too 💜

Of course, it’s not all doom and gloom! There’s been lots of good news stories feat. BIPOC women bubbling away. This week, I’ve included a short news round up so you can fill your cup and head into the weekend knowing there’s some good happening in the world.

Let's get glowing

P.S. So Glowja Cat is all of us during every morning meeting, right?!

P.P.S. Congrats to Sruthi who won the random draw for filling out the recent Glowreel survey. A copy of Wahala by Nikki May is making it’s way to you via Amplify Bookstore. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the survey - your feedback is so valuable 💜

Women Of Glowreel: Break The Bias

International Women’s Day 2022 is next Tuesday. This year’s theme? Break the bias! 👊🏾

A time to advocate for a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

In honour of International Women’s Day 2022, we’re amplifying some of the incredible women in our community who are breaking down barriers and breaking the bias! Full interviews are linked through each name:

  • Annie Louey - Comedian and actress who’s using her platform to encourage more BIPOC to take up comedy and media positions.

  • Ash Paraskevas - An influencer who uses her voice to uplift everyone around her. Ash also encourages everyone to unapologetically bring their whole selves to the table.

  • Lana Patel - Lana uses her platform to uplift trans women and women of colour.

  • Rebecca Willink - Founder of the Make The Space campaign, which advocates for access to all makeup shades to BIPOC.

  • Sasha K.Taylor - Child marriage survivor and a woman on a on a mission to end child marriage.

  • Shuari Naidoo - Founder of Moraka Menstrual Cups, which is on a mission to make periods cost-effective and sustainable.
