The secret of cloudy daysI witnessed some birds chirping with their mouth opened in the park for the first time and they were so loud! It is quite amusing to me as it is quite rare to see birds walking around on the grass and chirping at the same time. Karen Davis saw thousands of snow geese on the horizon one morning and got some incredible photos of these white birds. I have no words for the scene. Noticing details in the physical worldI also went for a walk and noticed all the quirky street names in Hong Kong. Cotton Tree Drive, Garden Road, Water Street, Wood Road, Museum Drive. Also all the quirky street signs in Hong Kong Island. Rob Walker wrote about noticing things in the physical world and taking one day off work. No email, no phone or screen. I can tell you that it is one of the best ways to feel rejuvenated. I brought The Art of Travel by Alain de Botton and my knitting with me today. (Yes, I am still knitting that scarf since January as I restarted more than 3 times.) It felt like a day of travelling to a new country as I noticed a yarn shop opened by a old lady and all the corners that I have never step my feet on. Take a day off and get involved in the physical world. You would feel so much better and energized afterwards. You can only do so much when you are stressed and overwhelmed. You can donate to the non-profit organizations NPR, TIME Magazine, and Global Citizen listed. Airbnb is offering free housing for refugees from Ukrainian. You can donate or host housing or relocation here. You can also book a Airbnb room in Ukraine to directly donate money to the refugees (Remember to send a note to the Airbnb host that you won’t be going to Ukraine, you are just doing so to donate).
