• Bored Ape Yacht Club is making headlines this week. Last Tuesday, the BAYC NFT collection announced that it donated $1 million to Ukraine’s official Ethereum wallet address. This charitable gesture comes after a number of other industry players announced their own initiatives focused on Ukraine relief. More recently, BAYC creator Yuga Labs sent shockwaves through the NFT world by purchasing the IP for the CryptoPunks NFT collection from Larva Labs, resulting in a 1,200% surge of CryptoPunks sales volume.

Former Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger takes on an advisory role at Genies, an NFT avatar company built on the Flow blockchain.

• According to consulting and accounting firm PwC, NFTs and digital assets are one of the major trends in the sports industry this year, which they explore in detail in their recently released ‘Sports Outlook 2022 Report for North America’ report. 

• LooksRare recorded a -19% decrease in sales and a +42% jump in transactions, which might be due to its recent integration with NFT aggregator Gem.xyz. OpenSea recorded a -18% decrease in sales and a -12% drop in transactions.

• 3D artist and art director Brellias is also launching ‘Assimilating Forest’, a collection of pieces depicting this neon forest as a character called ‘Saltus Lux.’ Saltus Lux is a sentient floral being that is constantly expanding, evolving, and interacting with people while trying to comprehend the world they inhabit.
