📂 Windows 11 is getting Start menu folders, but you can get them today

In an update released late on Friday, Microsoft added Start menu folders to Windows 11’s Start menu. This is part of an Insider update, so you won’t be seeing it on your Windows 11 PC for months to come. (It’s tough to say when exactly you’ll get the update, and it’s always possible Microsoft removes the new feature and doesn’t release it.)

If you want to arrange your Start menu shortcuts into folders in the meantime, Stardock’s Start11 can do it. Start11 can also do other cool things, like restoring taskbar labels so you can get that classic Windows taskbar experience and re-enabling drag and drop on Windows 11’s taskbar.

Stardock has been restoring missing features to the Windows desktop ever since Microsoft removed the Start menu back in Windows 8. It’s a shame it’s necessary, but it’s great we have an option. Either way, it’s good to see Microsoft restoring some of the taskbar’s missing features.

(Drag and drop is coming back, too!)
