My Ambition Turns Off More Men Than It Attracts

Let’s get this out of the way: I’m an author, an editor, and a person with a lot of bucket-list goals. This is allegedly attractive to the men I’ve dated — progressive, liberal guys who are proud to have been raised by badass working moms. Until it isn’t. At some point, it seems, they subconsciously interpret my drive as a threat, not an asset.

In America, alcohol killed more adults under 65 than COVID-19 did in 2020. Bad at first dates? Try a surrogate. Oklahoma’s House just passed a near-total abortion ban similar to the one in Texas. One downside to the weather warming up: shootings go up, too. The Taliban has announced that, in Afghanistan, girls’ high schools will be closed — only hours after they reopened for the first time in nearly seven months. And finally, rejoice: There’s new Harry Styles music on the way!
