5 Artists From the UNDRGRND Collection 

UNDRGRND DIGS is a periodical feature showcasing artists that the UNDRGRND curators dig. We sift through the social media and NFT platforms to find the best artists waiting to be discovered. UNDRGRND believes in the artists we feature and we will purchase NFTs from each artist featured. Purchases will be airdropped to reward UNDRGRND community members.

Kairon

Kairon's work feels like he is throwing us into the flame itself, the heart of consciousness, without giving us any concepts or hints about how to survive. For example, in Memories from Ancient Times, we're trying to decode this fractal artifact that has emerged in this eternal plane. There also seem to be different mountaintops and possibly a big giant with a sword towards the far left of the frame. I love how the atmospheric fog blends in with the desert and eventually the sky at some points. It looks like there are only two remaining for 0.1 Tez. I would not miss this chance to be an owner of Memory from Ancient Times. Blood-Red Orchid is another brilliant piece made by Kairon. Orchids are one of my favourite flowers, but I don't think this has anything to do with my attraction to this piece. I believe it is the inking of the flower itself, the background's noise texture, and how it exists everywhere except one rectangle in the right of the frame offering a little corner where you can meditate and turn your mind off for 5 seconds.

Cynthia's Sprinkles

I love how she experiments with different types of Sprinkles and brushes and colours while creating. I love how inclusive this collection is, as the description states, "… Sprinkle Art: doodles, poems, prose, and creative musings. Anything can become a Sprinkle", and with that, I choose to be a Sprinkle, or maybe I already was a Sprinkle. I hope you browse this collection and get lost in all the lines, circles, characters and colours. Looking specifically at Sprinkle #32 on the right hand, I see an alien smoking through an apparatus, and from his smoke, the universe of this painting emerging. Then on top of the alien, I see other creatures floating. I see infinity on the left of the piece- the symbols obviously, but also looping constantly and appearing in different forms and colours. It seems like there is a lesson to be learned there.

Ozann Atalay

Let's continue informally with the theme of memory, simply because this animation reminds me of the physical action of memory being written and deleted from a mechanical hard drive (possibly our brains). Persona #31 it's like the shadow of the weird shape is being erased. At the same time, the shadow of the person is being erased too. It looks like a much cleaner slate. Look at each stroke and take the time to internalize it, for it is a representation of what happens every time you remember and forget. Persona #22 reminds me of the video game Skyrim and the Dark Brotherhood. It also makes me wonder if it is a replica of the artist's actual hand. The movement of the hand is very organic and well done. The hand seems like it's going throughout the head, combing it for information. A perfect seamless loop is usually tough to create, and Ozan has made many of them and is selling them for only 1 XTZ each.

Holy Empress Kira

The piece, God Forsaken is straight-up gorgeous. So well done that I think it's blending mediums. At first glance, the lady character seemed like a 3D model using a marble texture, but I was fooled, and this whole thing is a 2D illustration. I love it when artists are masters in their craft so much that it seems like they are blending mediums. The lighting and texturing in this piece are also phenomenal.

Regarding Kira's other piece, Sunday, I love how the artwork looks in its entirety and what I particularly like are the details, the different length raindrops falling, especially the ones on her elbow and the window. Like all of Kira's work, attention to detail in this piece is immaculate.

Wanda Oliver

Wanda's Versum profile states, "There is a space at the convergence of the analog and the digital, art and science. You can often find me wonderfully lost there…." I am a big fan of Wanda's artwork, especially her collages on Versum entitled, Memories. Memories are always a delicate yet essential subject, especially because we can experience the same event. Yet, each has different memories—differences driven by point of view and where we each stand in life. So I find Wanda making beautiful art out of someone's old box of negatives they would throw out impressive. Also, the people's memories in the pictures, their writings, signatures and possessions will now be immortalized on the blockchain.

Memory #2 depicts photography or painting of a family gathering of some sort. Given the size and the fact that we are viewing a photographic negative, we can barely make out some of the lines in the faces, which helps keep them anonymous. The environment Wanda creates with the surrounding canvas is exceptional and perfectly fits the work; The moon, street lamps, and what seems like road tracks made using scraps of film and bits of paper. All the elements come together and become a beautiful collage.

I hope that with the current amount of time you have spent in the NFT Twitter community, you have understood and harnessed the power of a “good morning”, a “gm”, or a “great rising”. With her Good Morning Mantras, Wanda takes this up a notch. A mantra, for the uninitiated, is a sacred utterance, a sound, a syllable or a group of words that are believed to have magical spiritual or even religious powers. So we have something different in mantras as randomly generated art pieces . It is effortless to get lost in one, meditate the whole time, empty your mind, or see what arises from observing it. I like this too because spiritual teachers traditionally pass down mantras. The pupil won't know what they're getting, which is similar to the idea of minting random generative art. Life imitates art, and art imitates life.
