What does Oklahoma’s proposed abortion ban aim to achieve?

Oklahoma's vote to ban most abortions comes at a key moment for reproductive rights.
NPR (Moderate Left) • Factual Grade 86% • 3 min read

The legislation prohibits people in Oklahoma from performing abortions unless they are doing so to "save the life of a pregnant woman." A person convicted under the bill would be guilty of a felony and could face a fine up to $100,000 or a maximum 10-year prison sentence. A pregnant woman could not be charged with a crime for having an abortion.
    ...
The bill now goes to Gov. Kevin Stitt for his signature. The Republican has previously said that he would sign all anti-abortion bills the legislature sends him. Some states are passing laws that would be enforced by private citizens filing civil lawsuits, while others like Oklahoma make performing an abortion a crime.
    ...
Although the bill will most certainly invite a legal challenge if it becomes law, experts say the measure's supporters are likely unmoved by that prospect. [Mary Ziegler of Harvard Law School] said the law may even be blocked in the short term, but that Republican lawmakers are likely counting on the Supreme Court to toss out [Roe v. Wade] in the summer.

Should Elon Musk make Twitter reinstate Donald Trump’s account?

601 votes, 73 comments

Context: Elon Musk becomes Twitter's largest stakeholder, hints at free speech concerns.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

No - There is a difference in the rights guaranteed in the Bill of Rights and a private company's TOS. Trump (along with many other people) regularly violated the TOS for a private company. Twitter gave him *multiple* chances to stop, even leaving up content that was taken down when private individuals literally copied and pasted it from his feed to theirs. So, no. Donald Trump has no right to a Twitter profile. Restoring it will add nothing of value to public discourse. He has not been censored or cancelled.
