Ensuring Poem-a-Day as a free resource for all

Dear Reader,

Each morning, as tens of thousands of us open our Poem-a-Day email—across time zones, state lines, and even oceans—we can be assured, as Ed Hirsch has said, that “when you’re reading a poem, you’re not alone with your own feelings.”

Poem-a-Day is a unique way to share in poetry together and it’s only possible because readers like you have chosen to support the series with a personal contribution. I hope you might take a moment now to please support this special and communal cultural offering.
As a mission-driven, charitable organization, it’s important to us that Poem-a-Day is free for all subscribers, 365 days of the year.

But Poem-a-Day is not free to produce. From the costs of sending each email, to the bandwidth of our website, to staff time, and, importantly, to paying our guest editors and the poets we publish, you make this important series possible.

This National Poetry Month, please support Poem-a-Day with a special contribution. We have at least $67,000 left to raise in the next few weeks to underwrite this series.

I’m grateful for your joining us each morning, and for your help today.

Sincerely,
Jennifer Benka

P.S. For donors with a contribution of $40 or more, we’ve produced a special blank notebook, featuring lines from Naomi Shihab Nye. Be sure to claim this donor-exclusive gift when you make your National Poetry Month contribution today.
