Disney’s self-governing status - Booster for variants - Stricter environmental regulations

When Disney criticized [the Parental Rights in Education act] and called it the "Don't Say Gay" bill in statements, DeSantis began targeting the corporation. [The bill] doesn’t expressly prohibit teachers or students from saying “gay,” but it does inhibit classroom discussion of gender identity and sexual orientation.

The Reedy Creek Improvement District in the Orlando area shields Disney from local regulations and local property taxes. The district allows Disney to self-govern by collecting taxes and providing emergency services. State Rep. Spencer Roach [a Republican] said the district has allowed the corporation to avoid as much as $200 million in property taxes that Orange and Osceola counties would otherwise collect.
