🪐  HOT LINKS IN OUR UNIVERSE
Embedded education is the practice of educating people through encounters that they already have with systems that exist primarily for non-educational purposes. How do you learn about investing in stocks? Not by taking a class online, probably, but by investing with Robinhood.
During the industrial age, the value of the physical content of goods was enormous compared to the value of the mental content. The bending of steel and other metals, the welding or bolting of them together... Over the course of a half-century, the value of physical content to value of mental content of most products has now reversed.  We have no idea what this means for societal organization, though it is certain to be huge.

From time to time in the years to come, I hope you will be treated unfairly, so that you will come to know the value of justice. I hope that you will suffer betrayal because that will teach you the importance of loyalty. Sorry to say, but I hope you will be lonely from time to time so that you don’t take friends for granted. I wish you bad luck, again, from time to time so that you will be conscious of the role of chance in life and understand that your success is not completely deserved and that the failure of others is not completely deserved either. And when you lose, as you will from time to time, I hope every now and then, your opponent will gloat over your failure. It is a way for you to understand the importance of sportsmanship. I hope you’ll be ignored so you know the importance of listening to others, and I hope you will have just enough pain to learn compassion. Whether I wish these things or not, they’re going to happen. And whether you benefit from them or not will depend upon your ability to see the message in your misfortunes.
Humans don’t mind hardship, in fact they thrive on it; what they mind is not feeling necessary. Modern society has perfected the art of making people not feel necessary. It's time for that to end.
The unit of distance between two people is not the travel time between their positions on the globe but rather the degrees of separation in their social networks.

Why is DAO treasury management interesting?
In the Web2 world, treasury management is one of the least interesting parts of running a business. Web3 flips this dynamic on its head: what makes a DAO distinct from a traditional company is community ownership of the treasury, which means that everything a DAO does sits downstream of treasury management.

Treasury management is about so much more than the flow of funds between wallets; it’s also about governance, incentive design, coordination, and more. It’s a critical function for all Web3 businesses to consider from Day 1!

A podcast worth listening to?
The Bankless crew had a great conversation with Joel Monegro from Placeholder VC about the relationship between capital and governance. One of the most important decisions DAOs make is how to allocate capital, so treasury management and governance are very closely linked.

Things worth reading and watching?
Shreyas Hariharan is cofounder of Llama, a Services DAO that helps Protocol DAOs build their economic infrastructure. He’s written plenty of great explainers on DAO treasury management, and here he gives a succinct summary of the role the function plays in setting up a protocol for success.

One of the key challenges faced by Web3 treasury management teams is the illiquidity of their DAO’s native token. That’s because we’re currently in the ‘dial-up’ phase for liquidity in Web3, and as liquidity increases we’ll unlock a world of new Web3 use cases.

Yes, I promise this governance proposal is worth reading! One great thing about DAOs is that all proposals are publicly viewable; this is a thorough look at all aspects of Aave’s treasury management function, which are traced back to the protocol’s long-term vision & goals.

Projects worth following?
Coordinape is a ‘decentralized payroll’ company that’s created a unique approach for peer-governed compensation. It’s an interesting experiment that vibes well with the overall DAO ethos.

BizOps is a huge pain for most Web3 companies; there are lots of startups trying to solve this, and I’m particularly excited about the platform Multis is building.

It's trippy, come see for yourself
