Issue 218 - 400,000 km and still has 90% of its range

Safety score

Guide to a perfect Safety Score for the FSD Beta queue 📷
Here is a detailed guide about how the Safety Score works. Take a look if you are trying to get the FSD Beta or to obtain a cheaper quote from Tesla Insurance.

Software updates

Tesla battery trip estimate is now more accurate
We talked about this a few weeks ago, but Tesla just confirmed it on Twitter. The navigation system is now predicting crosswind, headwind, humidity, and temperature for calculating energy consumption and battery percentage on arrival.

Tesla brings better driving visuals, energy predictions, and driver profiles in 2022.16.0.2
We just highlighted the better navigation energy prediction above. On top of that, Tesla is bringing driver profile improvements and new driving visualization (A.K.A. FSD Beta visualizations) to 2022.16.0.2.

Future improvements

Elon Musk hints at lossless audio improvements, and maybe Apple Airplay?
It's well known that the quality of audio over Bluetooth isn't the best. The Twitter user @ShibaDoge asked Elon about alternatives, like Airplay, and Elon said he will discuss it with the team.

Wouldn't be cool for your Tesla to roll up the window when is going to rain?
That would be cool! And Elon said "sure" to this idea on Twitter.

Maintenance

400,000 km and still has 90% of its range ðŸ“·
This 2017 Model S 100D owner has put 400,00 km (~250k miles) to their Tesla and still kept 90% of its range. The car is used as a taxi and is supercharged between 3 to 5 times a day. Impressive!

Cybertruck & Model S

Elon Musk confirms IDRA’s new 9,000 ton Giga Press is for the Cybertruck 📷
This new 9,000 ton Giga Press (video in the post linked from the article) is for the body of the Cybertruck. Massive machine!

Model S/X refresh: you can activate the center console shifter by briefly pressing both scroll wheels
The new Model S and X don't come with a stalk to select gears, instead, they come with what Tesla calls a "smart shift". This system tries to understand your car's surroundings to pick the right gear for you, if the car is wrong you can override that using the center console. In the case the center console isn't working correctly, there are other selectors that turn on under the wireless phone charging area, and in case those don't turn on, you can activate them by briefly pressing both scroll wheels.

🤓 What the acronym

As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • FSD -  Full Self-Driving
  • Km -  Kilometers
