President Biden orders emergency steps to boost U.S. solar production.
Associated Press (Center) • Factual Grade 78% • 4 min read

President Joe Biden ordered emergency measures Monday to boost crucial supplies to U.S. solar manufacturers and declared a two-year tariff exemption on solar panels from Southeast Asia. [The actions] come amid complaints by industry groups that the solar sector is being slowed by a Commerce Department inquiry into possible trade violations involving Chinese products.
    ...
Clean energy leaders have long warned that the investigation — which could result in retroactive tariffs of up to 240% — would severely hinder the U.S. solar industry, imperiling up to 80% of planned solar projects around the country. The department counters that rates exceeding 200% for solar products would not apply to the vast majority of imports.
    ...
[White House officials] called the tariff suspension affecting imports from [Southeast Asia] a bridge measure while other efforts increase domestic solar power production — even as the administration remains supportive of the Commerce Department investigation.

Will Western countries’ military aid to Ukraine help end the war sooner?

Context: Russia strikes foreign weapons depot in Ukraine, alleges Western assistance prolongs the war.

HIGHLIGHTED COMMENTS

No - What's the end goal? If it's to get both parties to the negotiating table, how can the continued funneling of weapons do that? The US/NATO policy of pushing more and more high powered weapons has emboldened Ukraine to the point they think they can push Russia out of the east, which won't happen. The policy needs to be these high powered weapons must be reserved for any encroachment beyond the eastern fight. Russia taking the east is a fait accompli, the goal should be to fix the Russians in place and bring them to the negotiating table.
