Issue 219 - Tesla Cybertruck interior changes

New Model S & Model X

FeynLab Self Heal Lite & PPF install in a Model S Plaid πŸ“Ή
Check out this brand new Model S Plaid get the best protection with a PPF front coverage and FeynLab Self Heal Lite ceramic coating installs to keep its dark paint looking its absolute best– long-term. Check it out!

6 people in the Tesla Model X Plaid vs Porsche 992 Turbo S drag race πŸ“Ή
The Porsche was the fastest from the start line, but the Model X Plaid quickly caught up and finished the 1/4 mile in 10.326 vs 10.427 for the Porsche.

The new Tesla Model S lights look so nice πŸ“·
Yeah, they do, cool!

Software updates

Tesla further limits Autopilot functionality in Europe to comply with UNECE regulations
Another step back for AP in Europe. It seems that this time Tesla was requested to modify Navigate On Autopilot to require driver input before taking an exit or junction.

You can now control who can use your Tesla Wall Connector πŸ“·
The v3 of the Tesla Wall Connector just received a software update that allows customizing who can use it. The options are, all vehicles, only Tesla, or authorized VINs only. Especially useful for those who have their charger outdoor.

Misc

Elon Musk and the early days of Tesla: interview part 1 πŸ“Ή
Our friends from TOSV together with Ryan from The Kilowatts and Eli from My Tesla Adventure had the amazing opportunity of sitting down with Elon for four hours and set the record straight in the early days of Tesla. This is part 1 of the interview.

Tesla AI Day pushed to September 30
According to Elon, this opens the door to a possible working prototype of Optimus (Tesla's Robot).

Cybertruck

Tesla Cybertruck interior changes πŸ“·
A prototype of the Cybertruck made an appearance at the Moss Landing Megapack in California. Luckily for us, someone was able to snatch pictures of the interior, we can see clear changes in the dash and an instrument cluster that is closer to the one in the new Model S and Model X.

Service

$19,000+ non-warranty battery replacement cost πŸ“·
One of the concerns that I hear from folks on buying an EV is the cost of replacing the battery. This owner got theirs replaced after 102,871 miles for $19k.

First Tesla owned collision repair center in Canada πŸ“·
This is great news for folks in the Ontario area. In my experience, Tesla's collision center in San Jose, California, is cheaper than the 3rd party ones in the area.

Improvements coming for the Tesla Service in North America
Last Saturday, Elon seemed to be working on improving the service experience in North America. His goal is that 2/3s of the cars can get service the same day, no wait. As someone who has had to wait for weeks for service appointments (luckily nothing critical), this is great news!

πŸ€“ What the acronym

As a Tesla fan, I find myself sometimes having to remember what are all those acronyms, here is a list of the ones you can find in this issue.
  • AI -  Artificial Intelligence
  • AP -  Autopilot
  • EV -  Electric Vehicle
  • PPF -  Paint Protection Film
  • TOSV -  Tesla Owners Silicon Valley
  • UNECE -  United Nations Economic Commission for Europe
