That’s the nugget of advice from founder Shea Beck, who built and sold his sunglasses e-commerce brand Foldies with no employees.

Beck was methodical in prototyping and testing before he went all-in with major investments of his own money. As sales grew, acquisition offers poured in from Amazon aggregators.

But instead of taking the early offers, he used Foldies’ momentum launch new products and ramp up sales.

The move paid off as the sun-seeking founder sold about $1 million in gross income in the company's last two years of operation.

A key to Foldies’ success? “Trim all the fat you can,” Beck said.
