Polkadot Updates

🔴 ⭕️ Relay Chain

total supply - 1.2b DOT | staking - 51.8% | parachains & crowdloans - 11%

• Polkadot v0.9.24 has been released with a high upgrade priority, so if you’re running a node make sure to upgrade. 

• Coinversation won the last parachain slot auction.

🔴 🏛 Governance

• Referendum 64, to reimburse certain expenses via Treasury Proposal for teams that presented at Davos, is passing with 94% in favor. 

• Referendum 66, to re-try Referendum 62 which failed due to a technical issue, is passing by a wide margin. This should open HRMP channels between Statemint and five parachains - 2011 (Equilibrium), 2000 (Acala), 2004 (Moonbeam), 2006 (Astar), and 2012 (Parallel).

• Referendum 67, proposing to upgrade Polkadot to runtime v9230, is currently passing unanimously.

• Motion 210, 211, 212, 213, and 214, to fund the organization of Polkadot Decoded events by various parachain teams, has been approved.

• Motion 215 by EasyA, to execute a hackathon for students to raise awareness of the Polkadot ecosystem, has passed Council vote.

• A proposal to reward community events using child-bounties is up for discussion 

• Moonbeam has proposed taking over the planning and delivery of Decoded NYC through on-chain governance. 

Kusama Updates ₑₓₚₑcₜ cₕₐₒₛ

total supply - 12.42m KSM | staking - 47% | parachains & crowdloans - 21%

• 1 year into the release of Parachains on Kusama, 31 Parachains have already connected to the Relay Chain.

• Tanganika won the last parachain slot auction.

🦅 🏛 Governance

• Referendum 207, proposing to open an HRMP channel between Robonomics and Statemine, is currently passing by a wide margin. 

• Referendum 208, proposing changes to Nomination Pools, is currently passing.

• Referendum 209, proposing to enact a ‘genesis WASM reset’ to the Pichiu parachain, is currently failing.

• Motion 496, to update the Statemine runtime to v9230, is currently under consideration by the Kusama Council.

• Bifrost is seeking feedback on a potential proposal to request KSM liquidity subsidy for their KSM staking liquidity derivative - vKSM.

• OriginTrail published OriginTrail V6 and Parachain: from Turing to Metcalfe phase.

• Acala’s EVM+ launch initiated as the Wormhole multi-chain bridge goes live on Karura.

• Nodle released its 10-year roadmap.

• Composable announced work on a NEAR <> Polkadot bridge. It also announced Confio and Interchain Foundation as Hackathon partners for Unchained Berlin.

• Watch Interlay's vault workshop with software engineer Theo at Polkadot Hackathon.

• Basilisk published an update on the launch of the BSX token. The future is to be decided by the community in a referendum.

• Equilibrium integrates with Acala to bring the aUSD stablecoin to its ecosystem.

• Astar published The Astar Vision Part 3: The Innovation Hub of Web3.0 and announced a partnership with Covalent.

• Litentry released its parachain rollout plan.

• Turing launched bi-directional communication with Karura.

• Phala published a new ecosystem update.

• Unique published a new ecosystem update.

• Bifrost released its parachain rollout plan.

• Supercolony published A hitchhiker’s guide to WASM smart contract ecosystem.

• Pendulum & Amplitude partner with Acala to integrate aUSD. It also published How Stable are Stablecoins and launched an ecosystem grants program.

🌎 Community & Ecosystem

• Polkadot, Kusama, and 6 other Parachains have been added to the DeepDao platform, where DAO discovery and statistics is simplified. 

• Watch the recording of Theodore Bugnet from Interlay talking about how InterBTC works and how to build a bounty feature for the Polkadot Hackathon.

• Tune in to the Collision Conference on June 21st to hear Gavin Woods talk: Web 2.0 is dead. Long live Web3. 

• ​​Polkadot and Kusama communities are showing up for the upcoming Polkadot Decoded conference through motions and treasury proposals. Raul has posted about it in his recent tweet.

• Polkadot Decoded is coming up at the end of the month. Hosted in 4 physical locations and on-line, the event will have keynotes, talks, demos and workshops about all things Polkadot.
