The Five of Swords is often seen as a negative card in tarot readings, but that doesn't mean it can't have some positive aspects. Here's what you need to know about the Five of Swords. The Five of Swords typically represent conflict or disharmony. It can also indicate that someone is feeling overwhelmed or outnumbered. However, the card can also suggest that a person is ready to move on from a difficult situation. Let's go over the history and appearance of the Five of Swords. The History And Appearance Of Five of SwordsThe Five of Swords is a tarot card that has been associated with loss and defeat for centuries. It is often seen as a symbol of bad luck and is often interpreted as a warning against taking risks or engaging in conflict. The card has its roots in medieval Europe, where it was used to warn knights about the dangers of going to war. The card was often seen as a sign of death or destruction and was used to caution people against unnecessary risks. In more recent times, this card has been used in tarot readings to indicate a time of difficulty or hardship. It can represent feelings of defeat, failure, and disappointment. However, it can also suggest that you can overcome these difficulties with time and effort. In the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, you will see a man who looks deceitful and grabs three swords from the ground. And then, as he looks over his shoulder, two other guys are walking away, appearing as if they are defeated. You see on the grass there are two other swords on there which shows that the battle he had was lost, and the grey clouds in the background provide a gloomy atmosphere even though the battle is over. So let's look and see what it means when the Five of Swords is in a reading. What The Five of Swords Means In A ReadingIn a tarot reading, the Five of Swords can signify that it's time to let go of something that's causing you pain. It may also be a warning to watch out for people who might take advantage of you. The Five of Swords tarot card is often associated with conflict, disharmony, and difficult choices. This card can represent the querent's current struggles and challenges in a reading. The Five of Swords can also indicate that the querent feels overwhelmed or outnumbered. If this is the case, the querent will need to find a way to regroup and refocus to overcome their obstacles. In some readings, the Five of Swords can suggest that the querent is in danger of losing something important. This could be a relationship, a job, or even their sense of self. If this card comes up in a reading, it's essential to consider the other cards surrounding it. These cards will give clues as to what the querent needs to do to avoid losing something important. The Five of Swords can also indicate that the querent is feeling defeated. This doesn't necessarily mean they are about to lose something, but they feel like they have already lost. This could be due to a recent setback or failure. If this is the case, the querent will need to find a way to pick themselves back up and continue moving forward. In some cases, this card can represent actual physical conflict. This could be a fight, a battle, or even a disagreement. If this is the case, paying attention to the other cards in the reading is essential. These cards will explain how the conflict will play out and what the querent can do to resolve it. The Five of Swords can be a difficult card to interpret, but it's important to remember that it doesn't always indicate negative things. In some cases, this card can represent necessary change or growth. It can also suggest that the querent is about to overcome a difficult challenge. No matter what, the Five of Swords is a reminder that even the darkest moments can eventually lead to something positive. If you remember that five numerologically mean change, upheaval, and chaos, let's review how the Five of Swords plays a role in the aspiring writer's situation. So, as you can remember, the writer is heartbroken over the rejection of the manuscript representing the Three of Swords. Then after having an emotional time with that, the writer decided to rest and recharge, which you need to do after dealing with heavy emotions, representing the Four of Swords. Then, the writer chose to have a friend look over the manuscript to get an opinion. And guess what. The friend said it was horrible to the writer. That ended up being a significant Five of Swords situation. First, there were hurt feelings, and then an argument happened over it. And the writer felt even more defeated. And you know how well the Five of Swords plays a role in Risa Green's life. She feels utterly and sadly defeated in so many ways. Her life is a loss. She never had a family that loved her. She does not know what it is like to raise a typical child. She does not know what it is like to have a true friend. Poor mental health and C-PTSD are also liabilities. However, since this card again says that changes for the better are in dire need to be made, then the Five of Swords does indicate that for Risa Green too. And the biggest one is for her to overcome her echoism by setting boundaries, cutting off her parents, sending her son to a care facility, cutting off her neighbor, and assessing her marriage while indulging in some serious self-care. The question is, will that ever happen? Anyway, let's go over what the Five of Swords reversed represents. Five of Swords ReversedWhen the Five of Swords appear in reverse, it can be positive as it can represent a friendship reconciled after an argument and making amends. However, at times it can mean inner conflict, which also applies to Risa Green and those who struggle with poor mental health. I think of echoism, where you go out of your way to please others by removing any boundaries you would have, is a perfect example. There is so much inner conflict because that happens when you continuously put your needs to please others. It is a common thing, more than one would think, but it is a terrible way to be. Now, let's talk about how you can apply this card to your life. How To Apply The Five of Swords Tarot Card To Your LifeThat sounds counterintuitive because why would you want to apply a card representing conflict and defeat to your life? Instead, this is the perfect card to remind you to pick or choose your battles. Some battles are worth having, and others are not. For example, if you feel your needs are being neglected, that is a battle to pick. However, if you are upset with your partner because they are constantly moving too slowly or they smack their lips when they eat, then it is best to bite your tongue and put in ear plugs when it comes to the latter. You can get some good-quality ones at Walmart or the drugstore. You get the idea. Some battles are not worth it. Next, I will go over the Six of Swords.
