The Nine of Swords is the nightmare card. This card shows up when you have anxiety or are dealing with a lot of worry, fear, and nightmares. There is also a sign of depression when this card comes up. And when this card appears, it is indicative of you worrying a lot about any situation and allowing your negative thoughts to take over. This card is indicative that you are allowing your fears and worries to get the best of you, and you are obsessing about them. You cannot stop thinking about the worst possible case happening. And you are associating with your fears a lot, and one negative thought you have easily led to another. These thoughts are overwhelming you and keeping you awake at night. Before getting into the nitty-gritty of this card, let's go over its history and appearance. The History And Appearance of the Nine of SwordsThe Nine of Swords is one of the most well-known tarot cards and has been popular for centuries. Its history is full of mystery and intrigue, and it has been used by everyone, from kings and queens to commoners. The Nine of Swords first appeared in Europe in the 14th century and was quickly adopted by the upper classes. It was used to divinate the future and was often consulted before making important decisions. The Nine of Swords became so popular that it was soon being used by everyone from merchants to peasants. If you look at the Nine of Swords from the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, a woman is sitting up in her bed, appearing frightened as she is holding her head with her hands as if she is dreading something. She may have had a nightmare that has left her upset and frightened. Looking at the wall behind her, you see nine swords hanging, representing her fearful and negative thoughts weighing on her. If you look at the base of her bed, there is a carving of one individual defeating another as well as roses and astrology symbols on her blanket. Now, let's go over what the Nine of Swords means in a reading. What The Nine of Swords Means Tarot Card Means In A ReadingGetting the Nine of Swords tarot card in a reading usually means facing some tough times. This card often appears when someone is dealing with stress, anxiety, or fear. So if you've been feeling overwhelmed lately, the Nine of Swords has likely shown up for you. While the Nine of Swords can indicate some negative things, it's important to remember that this is just a card. It's not a prediction of your future, and it doesn't have to mean that you're doomed. Instead, this card can be a sign that you need to take some time to focus on your mental health and wellbeing. If you've been feeling down but not seriously down, try to do things that make you happy and relax. Spend time with loved ones, get outside in nature, or do whatever you enjoy. Though if your mental health is really in a dire situation, then it is a sign that you need to get some professional help. Now, let's go over some numerology. So as you remember, eight numerologically means action, mastery, and achievement, whereas the nine means fulfillment and attainment. Remember, the aspiring writer was dealing with disappointment regarding their manuscript and suddenly started believing that they should quit trying to look for other ways to publish it. That was represented by the Eight of Swords. You would say the Nine of Swords would express the aspiring writer developing fears about the whole thing. If they ever did decide to publish their manuscript anywhere, they could face ridicule, or what if what they had written hurt their reputation, which would hurt their chances at future employment? Do you see where these anxious and negative thoughts are taking over the writer's mind? That indicates the Nine of Swords. What about the Nine of Swords in Risa Green's case? It is not a stretch to believe that she is anxious about many things in her life. She may appear apathetic because of being so burned out, but that does not mean she may also lose a lot of sleep because of anxiety. She worries about her son with good reason, she worries about finances, and she worries about how she will make it. But her apathetic nature is why Risa has also given up believing that there is no hope for anything. If she were not so burned out, she likely would be a lot more anxious and be more willing to make a change for the better, but unfortunately, in her case, she did not take advantage of the opportunity when she could have done so. It is not too late, but since she is so numb, she is less likely to make any changes unless something forces her. Now, let's go over the Nine of Swords in reverse. Nine of Swords ReversedThe Nine of Swords, in reverse, can mean two different things. One meaning is that you can release your worries. The other is that you are dealing with the inner turmoil you keep secretive. You have a brave and bold face, and no one would know what is happening within, but the deep-seated fears are there. You could be the type that appears to have it all together on the outside. You could appear highly organized and neat, and you could also appear that you have plenty of people helping you out. You may have a job that you enjoy. But deep down, you are terrified and dealing with many fears taking over your life. But, again, no one would know by looking at you. Now, how do you apply the Nine of Swords to your life? How To Apply The Nine of Swords Tarot Card To Your LifeYou have to remember that the Nine of Swords represents fear and worry, which does not mean that the worst-case scenario has happened. If you feel extremely worried about something, such as not hearing from an employer that you applied to weeks ago, you may want to look at the Nine of Swords card because it will remind you that you are worrying about something for no reason. That is not to invalidate your fears and worries. However, it is to remind you that unless you are given bad news about something, there is no sense in wasting energy worrying about it because it will not change anything. By the way, this advice is not meant for someone who has an anxiety disorder. No, not at all. This is intended for those who do not struggle with uncontrollable anxiety but worry about a situation that has not happened or may never happen. It only makes you feel much worse. The next card I will go over is the Ten of Swords, the last numbered card in the Swords suits before getting to the court cards. You’re a free subscriber to Miriam Reads Tarot .
