A while ago I was chatting with my friend Michele Hansen who is the founder of Geocodio and she told me a story that I just have to share.

Here's exactly what she said:

About a year ago, a customer replied to our NPS survey and instead of replying to the follow-up question (which happens often) they said why they were there -- to find counties. This was interesting, since we've returned counties as part of our address completion since we launched, but never really paid much attention to it. Counties are included by default whenever someone converts addresses to coordinates or coordinates to addresses in the parsed and standardized address result.
This was really intriguing, so I decided to just throw up a landing page related to counties, a step-by-step tutorial. We quickly saw an increase in people coming to us looking to append counties to their addresses for a myriad of reasons we'd never even considered before, and the tutorial now has over a dozen first page ranked keywords related to looking up counties or completing addresses with counties.
