Good morning !

We've got some fun recs for you this week, plus some shopping recs if you're in the mood. In next week's issue, we'll be sharing back some of our readers' responses on how you divide up household tasks. We received so. many. responses (almost 2,000!) and appreciate you sharing your thoughts and tips for others. Can't wait to share them back. In the meantime, hope you stay cool out there. 🔥 —Alisha

This Week's Recommendations

curated this week by Alisha
  • This You’re Wrong About episode chronicling Martha Stewart's story and her rise to fame (and er, legal troubles) if pure fun! Favorite quote: "What if Prince Charles had a gardening show?

  • Cooking nonstop from these cookbooks: Salad Freak and I Dream of Dinner (whose authors were both featured in previous issues of this newsletter!). In particular, the crispy chickpea salad from Salad Freak featuring a nice mix of creamy avocado slices and a lime/rice wine vinegar/chile vinaigrette is on repeat for us. As it turns out, the trick to crispy chickpeas that stay crispy is to ensure they're pat dry before roasting in the oven.

  • LMNT is a tasty electrolyte drink mix with everything you need and nothing you don't. That means a science-backed electrolyte ratio with no sugar, no coloring, no artificial ingredients, or any other junk. LMNT is formulated to help anyone with their electrolyte needs. Get your electrolyte needs filled, plus a Free Gift with any purchase.  Sponsor

  • Watching Love Island UK. New to this series and...can't stop.

  • If you're looking for the comfiest sweatshirts, here's a hack: search for "vintage sweatshirts" on Depop to find the coziest, worn-in stuff. (My favorite find has a hole on the arm.) Searching on Depop, in general, is great—if you spot something you like on a retailer's site, try typing in the same thing on Depop. I have, at times, lucked out with finding the exact item at a discount because it did not fit the seller, or they wore it once, etc. We have a few weddings coming up and I’ve been searching Depop (or TheRealReal) for secondhand options.

  • A fun gift idea for a friend going through a hard time: This "cathartic cookbook" feels like just the thing we need right now (plus, one of our readers, Rachel Levin, co-wrote it!). Chapters include titles like “Anger Management,” “It’s All Right to Cry,” and “Chilling the F Out” and recipes like “Pummeled Tonkatsu” and “Ripped Bread Salad.”

  • Bowing down at the power of a roomy, relaxed-fit button-down: they can be thrown on top of shorts, skirts, slip dresses, and swimsuits. Personally speaking, I like to wear them on my slightly bloated days. This one, in particular, is on rotation currently (sizing goes to L). Here's a comp from J.Crew that goes to size 24.
  • This genius kitchen tool I didn't know I needed until I began to use it daily. Replenishing our stock of peppercorn, Aleppo pepper flakes, and za'atar to use with it so we can feel fancy when a recipe calls for those specifically." -Alisha

A Couple o' Nordstrom Anni Sale Picks

Big sales make us anxious but here are the things we think are worth taking a look at.
  1. Fellow Carter Move Mug â€” The size is not too big and not too small, and the subtle texture makes this grippable and not prone to slip. But most importantly, it comes with a splash guard (!) which every tumbler should have by default. No more spillage on morning walks.
  2. Fellow Stagg Pour Over Kettle â€” Not only is the design sleek and trendy, but this kettle heats up insanely fast, putting you that much closer to your morning cup o' joe or tea. (Promise we're not sponsored by Fellow!!).
  3. Longchamp Le Pliage Expandable Tote â€” These can fit absolutely everything in them, making them perfect for travel or for new moms who need to carry a gazillion things with them.
  4. UGG Shearling Slippers â€” On sale for $70; probably smart to stock up on before they sell out in fall/winter.
  5. Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate Face Oil â€” A cult (and usually pricey) beauty product if you want to treat yourself.
  6. Vitamix Blender Bundle â€” A big-ticket item that may be great to snag while it's on sale.
  7. Great Jones Sheet Pan in Blueberry (Set of 2) â€” A relatively affordable gifting option for a housewarming, birthday, or just-because occasion. We love the bright, happy color that's a great pick-me-up.
  8. Natori Thong â€” Stretchy, smooth, pretty, on sale for $14, and has over 200 nearly 5-star reviews.
