I'm Learning Out Loud - Progress Report 8: Tidying Up My Brand
Progress Report 8: Tidying Up My BrandA good ol' before-and-after of some tweaks I've made on my biz channels. Also, I'm getting on Instagram.Hello and happy Monday! Thanks for checking up on me and how my online course project is going. Something great has happened in the last couple of days: The graphic designer in me has come out to play! 💃🏻 This week, branding is on my mind. I want to start establishing a clear, consistent message across my business channels. I’ve also finally decided to start an Instagram business account. So things are cooking! Building in Public UpdateGoing forward, I’ll be tweeting my completed tasks at the end of the week. Here’s last week’s sprint review: Not-So-Extreme Makeover: Biz Channel EditionIt’s now been 4-5 months of taking my online business “more seriously”. Twitter, Substack, and Medium are currently my main channels as I’ve been focusing on content marketing and audience building. Now feels like the right time to pay more attention to how I’m presenting myself and my work (especially with Instagram coming into the mix soon). Here’s a before-and-after of text and visual updates I’ve made on Twitter and Substack: It may seem minor, but I think now there is more clarity and visual consistency across these channels. Would love to hear your thoughts! Let me know in the comments whether or not you notice a difference. Online Course Project UpdateLast week, I wrote about Task Analysis and the advantage of a task-oriented course design. Writing that article led me to a big realization, including why I’ve been dilly-dallying with creating my course. I realized I don’t have a clear idea of what my audience wants to learn how to do, do better, or do on their own. I need to have more discussions with people who are looking to turn their expertise into an online course. This is why I’m tidying up and opening more channels. The goal is to make it easy for prospective clients to find and connect with me (and vice versa). Thanks for reading! There are a lot of moving parts to creating a course and online business. Things are starting to connect, but there’s still so much I’m learning every single week. If you have questions or want me to elaborate on anything, leave a comment or email me at brainoflaraine@gmail.com. Wishing you a productive week!
